Sara made headlines with her website of anonymous testimonies, known as Everyone's Invited, but now she wants real change
In the past two years, 50,000 people have posted to the site. Women in their eighties recall harassment by their schoolteachers that they are still struggling to process; posts from men recount stories of male teachers who stood by and watched violence; girls share countless stories of being groped in the school corridor, or being choked in the school toilets by a group of boys., reflects on what she has learnt in the years since.
While she has been writing her book, Sara has visited schools in the UK and US to consult with students and teachers about what can be done to recognise and combat rape culture. “Teachers are definitely listening,” she says. “The schools I’ve been into seem to be experiencing a whole new reevaluation of sex education.”
Sara warns that many parents are not aware of the threat that social media algorithms pose. “I was watching YouTube reels the other day and then in one video, Andrew Tate came up and I watched it.” .
