A son from Kirkintilloch is taking on the ultimate challenge in aid of Glasgow's Beatson, which is a charity incredibly close to his heart. Ally Russell, 24, was inspired to run 100km from Edinburgh to Glasgow following his mum's diagnosis last Christmas Eve.

A son from Kirkintilloch is taking on the ultimate challenge in aid of Glasgow 's Beatson , which is a charity incredibly close to his heart. Ally Russell, 24, was inspired to run 100km from Edinburgh to Glasgow following his mum's diagnosis last Christmas Eve . Ally's mum Lorna , 56, was sadly diagnosed on December 24 with an aggressive form of Lymphoma and is currently undergoing treatment at the Beatson Cancer Centre in Glasgow .

The 24-year-old was inspired by his mum's "courageous battle" and hopes to raise crucial funds to "enhance each patients' experience". Speaking to Glasgow Live, Ally said: "My mum has an aggressive form of Lymphoma - when they diagnosed her she wasn't given a stage as it was already pretty far on, they were just focused on getting treatment started.
