The two-time NRL Premiership player has alienated some of his fans after he retweeted an anti-transgender tweet, with some accusing him of spreading 'anti-trans rhetoric' and labelling the now-deleted post 'extremely disappointing'.

Retired rugby and boxing star Sonny Bill Williams has been slammed for showing support for known anti-transgender activist Doctor Anastasia Maria Loupis.

Dr Loupis’ post included a picture of a red-haired girl in American football pads and a glamorous woman with the same coloured locks holding a drink on a boat. Sonny Bill Williams created controversy when he retweeted an anti-transgender post.
