Soupy, hot week ahead for the NYC area: ‘We're gonna stay mired’
Muggy’s the word.from noon on Monday through 8 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. Parts of the city, Northeast New Jersey and Southeast Connecticut could be hit with real-feel temperatures of around 100 degrees when accounting for humidity.
Jay Engle, a meteorologist for NWS, said the only currently forecast reprieve from the extreme heat is potential rain on Wednesday and Thursday — but that could keep conditions humid.Engle added that local heat indices are expected to reach the upper 90s this week and light winds will provide little relief. It’s unusual for the area to have such high humidity levels this early in the summer, he said., according to Aries Dela Cruz, a spokesperson for the city’s Emergency Management agency.
