Former Pike Road star was conference Freshman of the Year this past season
Former Faulkner basketball player Jayden Cooper has transferred to South Alabama. He averaged 21.1 points per game for the Eagles in 2023-24, and was Southern States Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year. South Alabama on Sunday picked up a basketball transfer portal commitment from former Faulkner University guard Jayden Cooper, the school announced Monday.
The 6-foot-2 Cooper averaged 21.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game as a true freshman in 2023-24 for the Eagles, an NAIA program in Montgomery. The Pike Road High School graduate was the Southern States Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year and a first-team all-conference pick this past season, and has three years of eligibility remaining.. South Alabama is expected to add up to three more transfers before summer semester classes begin on May 29.
