Jaguars await FAU-Florida Gulf Coast winner
Top-seeded Florida scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to power past South Alabama 9-1 in the NCAA Softball Gainesville Regional on Saturday.
South Alabama took a 1-0 lead in the first on Gabby Stagner’s RBI double, but it was all Florida after that. The Gators’ Ava Brown tied the game with a solo homer in the third, then the teams waited out a nearly three-hour weather delay. Wallace added a two-run single in the fifth, then Katie Kistler cleared the bases with a three-run double. Florida clinched the mercy-rule victory on Ariel Kowalewski’s RBI single with two outs in the fifth.
