The new local development plan for Belfast imposes 20 percent 'affordable' housing, at levels dictated by the market
A new apartment block and coffee shop proposal for Dunmurry in South Belfast has been given the green light, despite concerns being aired at City Hall that the plan involves 'affordable' rather than social housing.

She told the chamber: “I am a little concerned as to the affordable housing context, and why it is not social housing. My understanding with the new planning guidance is that there would be almost a hierarchy of what we would prefer, shall we say, in terms of affordable housing.
Council planning officers recommended the plan to elected representatives.
