The South Carolina Gamecocks are perfect as they wrapped up a 38-0 season with a 87-75 national championship victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes on Sunday.

The South Carolina Lady Gamecocks are women’s basketball national champions once again, completing an incredible undefeated season with an 87-75 win over the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Gamecocks were beaten by Iowa in the Final Four last year, but they got their revenge this time, overcoming an early deficit to end any debate about which team was the best in the country this season. This is the third women’s basketball national championship for the Gamecocks, all under head coach Dawn Staley.

Clark was firing on all cylinders in the first, knocking down 5-of-8 shots, including 3-for-4 from deep, for 18 points to lead the way to a 27-20 quarter victory. However, if you’ve watched the Gamecocks all season, they have a knack for going on runs. South Carolina stormed its way back in the second quarter, winning it 29-19 to take a 49-46 halftime lead. A lot of that had to do with Cardoso, the 6-foot-7 center who had 15 points and a career-high 17 rebounds.
