Senders Pediatrics is testing the accuracy of an app used to diagnose ear infections.
Senders Pediatrics is studying the paper funnel and app from Wavely Diagnostics to see how accurately it can diagnose ear infections remotely.
“Typically they’re gonna call at 4:30 in the afternoon because that’s when they picked up their child from daycare or from preschool and that’s where they’re in trouble,” said Dr. Shelly Senders.to study an app, using a smartphone and a simple cardboard tool shaped like a funnel to help diagnose an ear infection remotely.
The process essentially turns your smart phone in to an otoscope, the paper funnel helps detect fluid behind the ear drum that is sending a little electrical signal that bounces off the ear. “It makes sense. I mean, we have high quality speakers on our phones already,” the sixth grader said.
