SOUTH Korea has provided $300,000 in humanitarian aid to the Philippines to expedite the rehabilitation of communities devastated by Typhoon Egay.
In a statement on Thursday, the Embassy of South Korea in Manila said Seoul has 'decided to provide humanitarian aid' to the Philippines to expedite the recovery and rehabilitation of areas damaged by Egay.South Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Lee Sang-hwa has informed Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo about his government's 'decision to provide financial relief' to the typhoon victims, the embassy said.
Seoul had expressed concern over some 'actions [in the South China Sea] that raise tensions in these waters,' such as the August 5 'use of water cannons against the Philippine Coast Guard vessels in the South China Sea [by the China Coast Guard].
