The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Monday announced that it has arrested a fugitive from Seoul, South Korea allegedly involved in voice phishing operations against other South Koreans while being based in the Philippines.

According to Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco, BI operatives arrested 40-year-old Byun Jonghyun on December 18 at Barangay Balibago in Angeles City, Pampanga.

Tansingco said that an order for Byun’s summary deportation was released by the Board of Commissioners in September.
