South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol stole the show at a Washington state dinner, performing Don McLean's 1971 classic American Pie at the request of President Joe Biden.

President Yoon's six-day trip culminated with a state dinner in his honour at the White House on Wednesday. "We know this is one of your favourite songs, American Pie," Biden said. President Yoon Suk Yeol stunned the White House crowd with his rendition of American Pie. Picture: Sky News Australia

Biden was also visibly thrilled with the performance of his counterpart, raising Yoon's hand in the air following the performance before suggesting it won't be the last time he may ask him to sing."I had no damn idea you could sing."
