A survey has been created for residents to help the council set the school holidays for 2025/2026.

The free download features the latest breaking news and exclusive stories, and allows you to customise your page to the sections that matter most to you.Children are required to attend school for 190 days, and this helps shape how the holiday dates are planned.The council tries to ensure the dates are as close to neighbouring authorities such as North Lanarkshire, Glasgow, East Renfrewshire and East Ayrshire where possible.
Proposed dates for the first term include pupils returning on August 14 2025, the September weekend is planned to begin on September 26 with schools reopening on September 30. The October break is planned for October 13 until October 20. An in-service day is proposed for November 10 and Christmas break is planned to start on December 19.
