Collections will still be going ahead
Residents of South Northamptonshire are being asked to ensure their bins are out for collection in the run up to the British F1 Grand Prix at Silverstone. West Northamptonshire Council said collections would still go ahead.
The British Grand Prix this weekend, June 30- July 3, is notorious for causing traffic problems across the south of the county, as thousands descend on Silverstone Circuit. This year's race is set to break attendance records with 400,000 people selling-out the weekend. In an announcement on their social media yesterday, June 28, WNC said refuse disposal would still be going ahead. They said: "There will be no disruption to bin collections as a result of the British F1 Grand Prix at Silverstone this weekend."The council also warned that collection crews may "arrive at different times than usual" as traffic across the area builds. They asked that all residents in the south of Northamptonshire ensure their bins are out by 7am.
The request comes after National Highways issued travel guidance for those attending Silverstone on the same day, June 28. Changes to local roads includes a one-way system on the main A43. The A43 northbound will be one way from the B4525 interchange to Silverstone on both Saturday and Sunday from 7am until around 1pm, whilst the A43 southbound will be closed. From 2pm, the A43 southbound will be one way from Silverstone to the B4525 interchange while the A43 northbound will be one way from Silverstone to Towcester/BP roundabout.Keep up with the latest news with our email alerts directly to your inbox.
