Southeastern, a rail operator in Kent, Greater London and East Sussex, is investing £2 million in a programme of station improvements. The programme includes deep cleaning at 116 stations and repair and improvement works at 20 stations.
A rail operator in Kent, Greater London and East Sussex has announced a further £2m programme of station improvements to its network. Southeastern said that by the end of March 2025, 116 stations will be deep-cleaned alongside repair and improvement works at 20 stations. The deep cleans are in addition to the ongoing cleaning work across the network and will help support the growing Southeastern rail network, as passenger numbers continue to increase post-pandemic.
In October, Southeastern recorded a post-pandemic record of 400,000 entries and exits at its London stations. The number of customer journeys between April and June this year was also over 7% higher than the same period in 2023. Some of the 20 stations where improvements will take place are Ashford International, Dartford, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells. Meanwhile, the deep cleaning will take place at over 100 stations, including Battle, Dover Priory, Hastings, Paddock Wood and Strood. David Wornham, passenger services director at Southeastern, said: 'Our stations are the first and last impression our customers receive and that is why we are continually working to ensure they're at the highest possible standard.
