Sefton Council is delighted visitors had a 'wonderful time'
Southport Air Show returned at the weekend to rave reviews, thousands of happy visitors and a delighted local council. The annual celebration sees displays from the Red Arrows, RAF Typhoon, Spitfire and many more thunder across the skies for an exciting family day out along the coast. Southport Air Show has been a staple of the area for more than 30 years and is now synonymous with the resort and a major factor in the success of the Borough’s visitor economy.
After a turbulent 2023, with traffic and queueing issues, the event came back bigger and stronger than ever thanks to months of hard work and planning by Sefton Council’s tourism team. Cllr Paulette Lappin, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Skills, said: “Our expert tourism team work incredibly hard to ensure guaranteed entertainment for tens of thousands of visitors each year and I am delighted that this weekend was such a success.
