The families of two young girls tragically killed in the Southport knife attack have bravely spoken out for the first time, sharing their heartbreak and ensuring their daughters are remembered for their happy personalities. Nine-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar, six-year-old Bebe King, and seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe were fatally stabbed by 18-year-old Axel Rudakubana at The Hart Space in Merseyside on July 29.
Rudakubana, who entered the building with a plan to kill as many people as possible, was sentenced to at least 52 years in jail. The horrific details of the attack led the families to plead with the media not to report the full extent of the violence. Now, Jenni Stancombe, Elsie's mother, and Bebe's parents have chosen to share their memories to honor their daughters' lives. Jenni described Elsie as 'special,' highlighting her kind heart and eagerness to learn. Elsie attended a private tutoring session with Leanne Lucas, who tragically suffered life-changing injuries while trying to protect the children from Rudakubana. Bebe's parents, who remain anonymous due to a court order, spoke of their daughter's innate kindness and infectious laughter, recalling how she would always comfort shy children. Bebe's death came after an agonizing search by her parents, who initially believed she was safe inside a neighboring house. Bebe's father described the chilling moment he learned his daughter had passed away. The families of the victims have described Rudakubana as 'pure evil,' having witnessed his chilling confessions of satisfaction at the children's deaths. Judge Mr. Justice Goose, sentencing Rudakubana, stated that he 'is highly likely to never be released' due to the severity of his crimes
