Axel Rudakubana, who pleaded guilty to murdering three girls and harming 10 others in a dance class attack, is believed to have planned a high school massacre a week earlier. His father intervened and prevented him from reaching the school.
Axel Rudakubana , the Southport attacker, is feared to have been planning Britain's first high school massacre a week before his knife rampage. However, he was talked out of going to Range High School by his father, Alphonse. Armed with a large kitchen knife and wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and surgical mask, Rudakubana left his family home in Banks, Lancashire, for a waiting taxi, the same outfit he would later wear during the attack.
Alphonse intercepted him, pleading with the taxi driver not to take his son on the 15-mile journey to the school. While there's no suggestion that Alphonse knew about Rudakubana's alleged plans, an eyewitness reported a confrontation that ultimately led to Rudakubana leaving the vehicle. This revelation came as Rudakubana pleaded guilty to murdering three innocent young girls and harming 10 others during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class. Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, tragically died following the attack in Southport on July 29, 2024. He also admitted to producing ricin, a biological toxin, and possessing information likely to be useful for terrorist activities. Rudakubana, who was 17 at the time of the attack, was expelled from Range High School for a disturbing incident involving an attempt to attack pupils with a hockey stick. At the age of 13, he was suspended for bringing a knife to school. He later returned with a hockey stick, wielding it at pupils before being restrained by a teacher. On another occasion, he was filmed attempting to attack a teacher during a lesson, requiring intervention from three classmates. Rudakubana had expressed his interest in genocidal killers and bloody dictators, leading professionals who worked with him to label him 'generational evil'. In the months preceding the attack, police were frequently called to his family home to support social workers due to the risk he posed. One source revealed that Rudakubana contacted Childline at 13, claiming he would bring a knife to Range High School due to bullying. It's unclear if he was actually bullied or if he ever brought a weapon to the school while a student. Despite his expulsion for the knife threat and hockey stick attack, Rudakubana attended specialist educational units, including a college in Southport, though his attendance was limited. Sources emphasize that Rudakubana was raised Catholic and there's no indication of religious motivation behind his fixation on violence or the dance studio attack
