Axel Rudakubana admitted to murdering three young girls and injuring eight others at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport. The 18-year-old also pleaded guilty to possessing a knife, producing ricin, and possessing terrorism-related information.

An 18-year-old man from Banks, West Lancashire, named Axel Rudakubana , has admitted to the July 29 attack on a dance class in Southport , where three young girls lost their lives. Rudakubana, who was 17 at the time of the incident, pleaded guilty to three counts of murder, eight counts of attempted murder , and several other charges, including possession of a bladed article, production of a biological toxin (ricin), and possession of information related to terrorism.

The attack occurred at The Hart Space, a small business park, during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class. Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven were killed in the attack. Eight other children, along with the class instructor, Leanne Lucas, and a businessman, John Hayes, were also targeted in the attack but survived. Mr. Justice Goose, presiding over the case at Liverpool Crown Court, stated that a life sentence is inevitable for Rudakubana. Sentencing is scheduled for Thursday, January 23. During the hearing, the defence counsel, Stanley Reiz KC, informed the court that there was considerable material regarding Rudakubana's mental health prior to the offences. The defence indicated they would consider whether to present this information during the sentencing hearing. Justice Goose acknowledged previous incidents that may be relevant to the case. The prosecution, represented by Deanna Heer KC, stated that the guilty plea was anticipated. Rudakubana was escorted from the courtroom by officers following the proceedings. Justice Goose noted that the families of the victims were likely absent due to the expectation of a guilty plea the following day. The court announced that a new weekly newsletter, THE COURT FILES, will deliver the latest news from Lancashire's courts directly to subscribers' inboxes
