The MP is calling on Cadbury to reduce the price
Southport MP Patrick Hurley has launched a petition to bring the cost of a Cadbury Freddo back down to 5p.
He writes the Freddo was originally launched in 1973 at a cost of 2p, but was then withdrawn in 1979. The chocolate frog we enjoy today was relaunched in 1994 at a higher price of 10p and has been steadily increasing in price ever since. The petition reads: "Freddo was originally launched in the UK in 1973 and cost 2p but was withdrawn in 1979. The Freddo we know and love today was re-launched in 1994 at 10p.
"The price of Freddo has become synonymous with inflation with many adults reminiscing about the time when Freddo cost 5p. The frog-shaped chocolates were initially 10p when Cadbury relaunched them in the 1990s and remained that price till 2005.
