Anode material can match best Chinese manufacturers
Sovereign Metals reported "outstanding" test results for graphite from its Kasiya project in Malawi.Sovereign said that the very spherical graphite anode material produced by its pilot plant has "performance characteristics comparable to the highest quality natural graphite battery material produced by dominant Chinese anode manufacturers".
In a broker's note, Berenberg said "this is a key milestone ticked off for Sovereign in developing a marketable, battery-grade graphite product from Kasiya, which importantly is a non-Chinese source of graphite, with Chinese natural graphite currently subject to trade tariffs from the US, and thus offers supply chain diversification from Chinese material." "We view the results as positive, although the shares fell in Australia overnight as part of a broader market sell-off.
