A NASA telescope spots a \u2018cannonball' hurtling through space at 2.5 million miles per hour. The pulsar is fast enough to travel from the earth to the moon in six minutes.

The space agency has instructed the help of Elon Musk’s aerospace company with the first-ever attempt to deflect an asteroid by purposely crashing into it. At an astonishing cost of £53 million the Double Asteroid Redirection Test will look to divert any asteroid which threatens the earth’s atmosphere. DART will launch a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California in June 2021.
