Artola beach, beside Puerto de Cabopino, Marbella, Costa del Sol, Malaga Province, Andalusia, southern Spain Gang members who allegedly falsified scores of applications for residency forForty-seven people, including five who worked in two lawyers’ offices, were detained in Marbella and Ceuta, the Spanish enclave in northern Africa.
As thousands of Britons rushed to submit residency applications, law firms vied to offer deals to get residence for Britons – at a cost – to save them from grappling with the bureaucracy involved. In some cases, British people who did not speak Spanish well preferred to pay lawyers than try to manage the process themselves.
