Spanish police are keeping tight-lipped over whether a £12,000 Rolex watch, allegedly stolen by Jay Slater before his tragic death, has been recovered.
Police have refused to divulge the precise coordinates of where their mountain rescue team uncovered his remains at about 10am on Monday, July 15, although it's believed to be in proximity to where his mobile phone was last located. TV detective Mark Williams-Thomas has suggested Jay boasted about stealing a Rolex on Snapchat just before he disappeared on June 17 while returning to a rented Airbnb in Masca, though Spanish authorities have not confirmed an investigation into the watch theft.Following the grim find of a body believed to be Jay's in the mountains near Masca, officials have now verified through fingerprint analysis that it is indeed the teenager, and it seems he died from a fall.
