Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) As 4th of July festivities get underway -- first responders are reminding everyone how to stay safe and aware when cooking on the grill
Henrietta, N.Y. — As Fourth of July festivities get underway, first responders are reminding everyone how to stay safe and aware when cooking on the grill outside and handling fireworks.
Thad Brown, chief of operations for Brighton Volunteer Ambulance, reminds people to be cautious when igniting fireworks. Brown said it's important to dispose of fireworks and sparklers properly and don't allow children to light them. "We will get a lot of calls for those tomorrow," he said. "Sometimes, they do land on roofs and they might start a little fire.""Before you start it, you are going to want to make sure you have the equipment to clean the grill — before and after," Goodman said.
