Darren Cooper was driving a Ford Transit van when he collided with Trina Cook in Newark Road, Ollerton
A speeding van driver killed a woman in Nottinghamshire when she “staggered” off the pavement and into the side of his vehicle. Nottingham Crown Court heard how Darren Cooper then fled from the scene leaving his victim, Trina Cook, dead in the road.
“You had been seen moments earlier by a witness cutting in front of another car and it is entirely true that you were driving in excess of the 30mph speed limit on that road. I can’t be sure how fast you were going but it was in the region of 55mph. “You did not stop and you did not hand yourself in immediately and you left it late to plead guilty.” Sue Rodham, prosecuting, said the incident took place just after 10pm on December 8, 2022.
