The Spice Girls singer will make a nostalgic return to the resort
A pop icon and former Spice Girl is set to switch on this year's Blackpool Illuminations. Mel B will be making a nostalgic return to the resort where she first started her career as a 16 year old dancer in the Mystique show at Pleasure Beach Resort. Mel, who was famously known as Scary Spice, has sold more than 100 million records worldwide with the Spice Girls, making them the best-selling female group of all time.
Mel B has expressed her excitement at being chosen to switch on the Blackpool Illuminations, an event with a history of national and international celebrities' involvement. She said: 'I'm so thrilled to be turning on the Illuminations because Blackpool has played a big part in my life and career. I was just 16 when I came to Blackpool to be part of the Mystique dance group.' 'To me it was the most glamorous place in the world - the Vegas of Britain.
