Police and other emergency services rushed to the scene at RAF Coningsby following reports of the crash which happened around 1.20pm on Saturday. In a statement police said: “It is believed to be a single occupant aircraft and nobody else is thought to have been involved.” The force has put road closures are in place in the areas of Dogdyke Road and Sandy Bank and it is asking motorists to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.According to the preview for the event, it was scheduled to include flying displays by a Spitfire and other aircraft that were used by the RAF during the Second World War such as a Hawker Hurricane and a Avro Lancaster PA474.
