The Albanese government’s Sports Minister Anika Wells has spoken out on the Queensland government’s decision to turn down the construction of a new stadium for the 2032 Olympics.

The federal Sports Minister has revealed she expressed her view on the 2032 Brisbane Olympic stadium dilemma during a"robust" discussion after the Miles government’s controversial decision.

“I have a view on that which I expressed at OCOG on Friday, which is the organising committee for Brisbane 2032, and it was a robust discussion in the room because we are the stewards of the games,” she said. The Victoria Park proposal was one of three recommendations rejected by Premier Miles from the Quirk review into Brisbane’s 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Venue Infrastructure.

The Queensland Sport and Athletic Complex will also be upgraded despite the review describing it as a poor use of money.
