Spotify Premium and Apple Music announced a price hike in their plans. Licensing cost is one of the main reasons behind the increase.Focusing on the Individual Plan tiers, Spotify Premium raises the monthly price from PHP 129/month to PHP 149/month. This is a substantial PHP 20 increase. In addition, the Family Plan also increased from PHP 194/month to PHP 214/month.
On the other hand, Apple Music is also seeing a price increase from PHP 129/month to PHP 139/month. We did receive an email about this. The price increase will start to reflect on your monthly bill next month, December 16, 2022. Here are the updated prices for both services:Spotify PremiumMini Plan - PHP 7/dayIndividual Plan - PHP 149/monthDuo Plan - PHP 185/monthFamily Plan - PHP 214/monthApple One also announced a price hike as its Individual Plan becomes PHP 449/month from PHP 375/month. The Family Plan is now up to PHP 579/month from PHP 495/month.
The number 1 reason behind the price increase, as expected from all subscription services, is the rising cost of licensing. Apple and Spotify, along with other streaming services, will always push to bring the best content for their users. That costs a lot of money especially when it comes to exclusive licenses.
