Chilean miner SQM said on Wednesday the firm and state-run Codelco had extended the deadline to set terms on a partnership from the end of this month to the end of May.
In a separate statement, SQM said board member Xu Tieying would step down on April 24. The announcements come on the eve of an extraordinary shareholders meeting requested by China’s Tianqi Lithium Corp 002466.SZ, a major shareholder in SQM. Tianqi, which recommended Tieying for the board, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The purpose of the meeting will be to hear about the status of negotiations between SQM and Codelco, as well as “the detail of the actions and contracts that are expected to be carried out and executed.”The Yumpag project was approved to mine 1,000 tonnes per day, allowing it to produce an estimated 6.5-7.2 million oz. of silver by 2024.Peru copper production dips 1.2% in January
The new figures come after a 17% drop in output from MMG's Las Bambas mine and a 13.4% fall from Freeport-McMoRan's Cerro Verde mine.LG Energy alleges that Sigma is in breach of certain provisions in connection to a lithium supply agreement entered in 2021.
