Stacey Dooley hits back at off-grid benefits couple who called her ‘lazy’ and ‘insensitive’
STACEY Dooley has been branded “lazy” for not immersing herself in an "off-grid" benefits family's lives during filming.
He added: “She's lovely but there's not a lot of depth to her. There's a fantastic moment where she is with me in the allotment and I say: 'Come on then Stacey, what herb is this?' and I tell her it begins with the letter O and she says: 'Olive oil.” The show aired last night and the series sees Stacey experiencing many different walks of life by spending 72 hours in different households.
Although the couple mostly rely on benefits, they said none of their three kids, Uly, eight, Ostara, four, and Kai, one, are traditionally schooled or were delivered in hospital, so they saved the UK government money in other ways.Adele believes Ostara may be more curious about school than her brotherThe family are known for their "off-grid" style of parenting, where they let the child decide what to do, andwhen she was one, leading viewers to brand their kids "feral".
"It takes all of our money pretty much," he explained, revealing how they had recently moved into a three-bed council house after falling out with their previous neighbours and being forced to move into emergency accommodation for around a year. She admitted even if she was to take them to a country rife with malaria she wouldn't give them malaria tablets.
