Despite the huge achievement, Stacey didn’t attend the ceremony at: ‘I was meant to collect the medal but I didn’t have time.’The TV presenter added: ‘I was working and I never kind of rearranged, so I must sort that out. It’s mad, isn’t it?’Shortly after being awarded the MBE, Stacey dedicated her award to her mother who raised her as a single mum.‘My mum, Di, is my absolute hero. She’s the most remarkable woman in my life.
She added: ‘The thing I’ve taken most from her is her work ethic. She’s always worked really hard, and now I try to do the same. If I’m ever lucky enough to have children, I want them to look at me and think, “Standard, mum goes to work”.’ Forgotten MBEs aside, it’s been a difficult week for Stacey who was blamed for her boyfriend Kevin Clifton’s decision to quit Strictly.
The couple won the 2018 series and began dating shortly after. Earlier this month, Kevin announced he was quitting the hit BBC One show after seven years but was forced to defend Stacey, stating she had nothing to do with the move.
