Star Trek’s god war has shaken the franchise to its core, turning the relationship between humanity and its gods on its ear, and now it has subverted a trope common to its god-like beings. In Star Trek #19, T’Lir, revealed to be an Organian posing as a Vulcan, comes to the Federation with a desperate plea, one that flips the script on the behavior of the franchise’s gods.
Star Trek #19 is written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly and drawn by Megan Levens. T’Lir has gathered the Theseus’ senior officers, including Captain Sisko, in the ship’s ready room. They make their case: Kahless has caused severe damage to the fabric of reality, and T’Lir wishes for Sisko’s aid in fixing it. T’Lir pleads for help, saying they have given aid to the galaxy.
The Organians, of which T’Lir is a member of, helped broker a peace between the Klingons and the Federation, at a time when relations between the two entities had deteriorated. In doing so, the Organians saved many lives. Other god-like races seen on Star Trek, such as the Metrons, the Q and the Bajoran Prophets, also take active roles in the affairs of lesser beings.
