Summary During Fan Expo Chicago, one Star Wars star confirmed that they will not be appearing in The Mandalorian & Grogu, suggesting that a major plot from The Mandalorian season 2 may truly be over. The Mandalorian & Grogu is the next to be released of Star Wars' upcoming movies. At present, little is known about the movie, other than that it will follow The Mandalorian season 3 in the Star Wars timeline and feature the titular characters.
However, evidently, not all characters who have been important in The Mandalorian will appear in the movie. Specifically, Boba Fett actor Temuera Morrison confirmed during the panel "From Clone Troopers to Bounty Hunters" at Fan Expo Chicago that he will not be returning in The Mandalorian & Grogu. In fact, Morrison said that he also hasn't received an update regarding a possible season 2 of The Book of Boba Fett.

More recently, Boba Fett played a role in The Mandalorian season 2, which dovetailed into Fett leading his own show, The Book of Boba Fett. Given the character's extensive history in the franchise and how beloved the character has been for decades, it makes sense that Star Wars would have assumed that this addition to Star Wars' TV shows would be a smash hit. Unfortunately, that ended up being far from true.
Rather, the show was largely disappointing, even for fans of the character. Although it was interesting that Boba Fett had somehow survived his presumed death in the Sarlacc pit in Return of the Jedi, this felt like a pattern of Star Wars bringing back characters who had almost certainly died . Worse still, the show simply wasn't that compelling. Boba Fett became a crime boss on Tatooine, but the plot largely fell flat.
