Michael Shanks has started his campaign to be elected as representative for Rutherglen in the 2024 General Election with support from Labour's UK and Scottish leaders.
UK Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer and his Scottish counterpart Anas Sarwar have backed Michael Shanks as the option “to change Rutherglen”.

“The by-election showed that people want change, and now across the whole of the UK people can vote for the change we need, and a government on our side”.
