Two brothers convicted of murder for hire in connection with the 2017 death of an Enterprise elementary school teacher have been ordered to pay more than $1 million in restitution.
Sara Elizabeth Shubert Starr, 38, of Chancellor was found shot to death at her home Nov. 27, 2017, after co-workers at Harrand Creek Elementary School in Enterprise notified the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department that she had not shown up for work on that Monday following the Thanksgiving holiday. During the trial in federal court in Montgomery last year, the jury heard that Jason Starr was upset about the amount of money his ex-wife had been awarded by the judge and that Jason Starr hired his brother, Darin Starr, a resident of Lakehills, Texas, to kill her.
The children, who had spent the holiday with their father, were not at home the morning their mother was killed.
