It could mean they're entitled to a £300 boost from the Department for Work and Pensions
State pensioners across the UK are being urged to scrutinise their bank statements for a telltale six-digit code indicating a £300 windfall. Pensioners in England, Wales and Northern Ireland who were born on or before September 23, 1958, or those currently receiving certain benefits, should expect to have found a Winter Fuel Payment from the Department for Work and Pensions in their accounts.
To qualify for this year’s payment, one must have been a recipient of any of these benefits in the timeframe from September 16 to September 22, 2024. The deadline for the arrival of the Winter Fuel Payment is set for January 29, 2025, and all eligible pensioners should have received it by then. Recipients should look out for their National Insurance number followed by the code "DWP WFP" in their bank statement as confirmation of payment.
