With another energy price hike looming and the loss of winter payments, pensioners are facing a challenging winter. Experts advise turning off five energy-consuming appliances to minimize expenses.
State pensioners are advised to turn off and unplug five devices as another energy bill price increase is set to take effect in just two weeks. Many state pensioners are bracing for a harsher winter this year after the loss of their £300 winter fuel payment and a £300 cost of living payment, coupled with escalating energy bills . On January 1, just a fortnight away, pensioners will witness an average rise of 1.2 percent in their energy bills , marking Ofgem's third consecutive price hike.
This follows a substantial 10 percent price increase in October, meaning pensioners - along with other energy consumers - are facing significantly higher bills this winter. The rationale is that heating up to temperature is the expensive part, and simply maintaining that temperature is cheap, plus it's always ready for use at a moment's notic
