A celebrity walrus who was put down by the Norwegian government over fears she would hurt fans has been honoured with a life-size statue.
The sculpture depicts the 600kg animal in her favourite reclining pose near one of her most-frequented spots on a marina in Oslo. Unlike most of her species, Freya was not afraid of humans, allowing them to get close for selfies and even swim near her. The final straw came when she was pictured surrounded by a large crowd, including young children, prompting authorities to decide there was too much risk to the public.At an estimated age of five years, she had only matured to the walrus equivalent of a rebellious teenager.
