Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu will indeed get more reps together down the stretch in training camp.
The Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle competition remains one of the more intriguing parts of training camp, especially as Dan Moore Jr. hasHowever, Broderick Jones’ arm injury has forced him to take some steps back, which could explain the influx of Moore and Troy Fautanu playing on the same field together. However, with Fautanu only working at right tackle, it is clear that the Steelers want to let the rookie figure it out over there.
There seems to be a pathway for the starting five to include both Jones and Fautanu, which most fans seem to want. However, Moore is hanging tough and only playing left tackle. He could gain more reps at right tackle if the Steelers lean more towards Fautanu and Jones becoming the starters in Week 1.
However, that all hinges upon the Steelers finding the right balance of playing Jones and Fautanu in the right spots during games to evaluate them. More importantly, it lands upon Fautanu to play well and earn that spot. That is where things stand as of now.
