Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s plans to invest £50million into the Carrington training ground is a sign of how much Man United have underinvested for a number of years.Football InsiderMan United confirmed the work will begin immediately as they look to deliver a “world-class” football facility at Carrington.
It comes after the training ground facilities were one of the areas Ratcliffe admitted needed upgrading on his arrival at Old Trafford. The INEOS chief has been vocal about improving the standards at the club and suggested the facilities at Carrington had “fallen below some of our peers”.Borson believes the investment is likely to be over a long period of time rather than the cash being spent all in one go.“It’s simply a case of years of lack of investment catching up on United and one of the many things Ratcliffe suggested he’d been surprised about on his arrival.
“I think the £50million is a sign United have underinvested for a number of years in that part of the business.”
