Haas F1 boss Steiner says Schumacher's JapaneseGP crash was 'self-inflicted' after the German blamed spray from another car. 'You're a race car driver, and you know in spray you cannot see, and there was water before.'
Haas Formula 1 boss Gunther Steiner says Mick Schumacher's crash during first Japanese GP practice was simply"self-inflicted", despite the German driver blaming spray from a car in front. The track rookie went off on his way back to the pits after conducting a practice start on the grid, badly damaging the front of the car.
Nevertheless, Steiner made his frustration clear after the German added to his 2022 tally of major accidents. Schumacher, who is yet to secure a contract for 2023, believes the crash will not affect the American team's decision about his future. "We have to see, maybe we can even check it out here, do all that, but it was easier to make the decision to change it now, then we are done, and then we check it properly.
