Following the cancellation of her Channel 4 show 'Steph's Packed Lunch', Steph McGovern has landed a new role in the BBC Three comedy 'Smoggie Queens'. The series centers around a group of LGBTQ+ friends in Middlesbrough and also stars Bill Fellows, Michelle Visage, Charlotte Riley, and Alexandra Mardell.

Steph's Packed Lunch was cancelled in December 2023 but the host has been secretly working on a new role which has now been announced. She will star in the new BBC 3 comedy Smoggie Queens which will also star Coronation Street stalwart Bill Fellows, known for his role as Stu Carpenter.

Bill won't be the only Corrie alumnus on the show, as former Coronation Street star Alexandra Mardell will also join the cast. She'll portray Lucinda in the new comedy, following her departure from her role as Steve McDonald's daughter Emma Brooker in 2022, reports the Liverpool Echo. Revealing the new show, Steph re-shared a photo from a few months back. "That time I posed this pic in the summer…I was secretly filming an episode with the @smoggiequeens gang," she said.

Speaking on the new comedy, Michelle Visage said: "Filming Smoggie Queens was an absolute joy, and I am so excited for everyone to meet Elaine, an uptight office assistant, who I had so much fun playing - wait until you meet her! The script is brilliant, the costumes are amazing, and I loved being amongst Middlesbrough royalty for the day! I'm an official Smoggie now! ".
