The host had her appointment live on-air to raise awareness
I’ve long been a loud and proud fan Consider me in mourning: Steph’s Packed Lunch, the nation’s greatest daytime show, has been axed by Channel 4. The programme, which only recently expanded its running time to begin at midday rather than 12:30, will now be coming to a close altogether in December.
Although the presence of ‘Lunchmates’ – a small, recurring studio audience who occasionally chime in with their own opinions – initially felt a little awkward and stilted, over time it has felt inclusive and seamless; the show’s on-camera team coming across like a group of people you genuinely wouldn’t mind going for a drink with. Compare and contrast that with the embattled This Morning, filmed from what looks like an airy CGI-filled warehouse, and it’s like a big hug.
