The winger is understood to be warming to the idea of turning out for Clarke's side who are heading to Euro 2024.
Scotland boss Steve Clarke has opened the door to Harvey Barnes and warned England he won't give up on Elliot Anderson without a fight.
It comes after a report stated the £39m England cap is warming to the idea of switching allegiances as he qualifies due to one of his grandparents being born in Scotland. Barnes' Newcastle United team-mate Anderson was with the Scotland squad last before exiting and Gareth Southgate has made it clear the 20-year-old remains on the Three Lions' radar.
Speaking ahead of the 150th anniversary clash with the Auld Enemy, Clarke said: "We want the best players we can possibly get, if they are eligible for Scotland and got a chance to play for Scotland and improve the squad which I have got, which is not an easy thing to do. I get the story around it because we are playing England, you want to speak about Elliot, you want to speak about Harvey, I quite like speaking about the boys we have got.
And Clarke insists it's the same boat for Anderson who faces a call on what comes next. He added: "We like the player as well. Elliot will still have that choice to make. When I come out of this camp I will look at what we have done, what we've had, what's occurred over this camp. We will do a debrief and then we will shape what we do from there."
