Just five of those who helped sneak a 2-1 win over this week's opposition remain on the scene.

A little over four years on from Steve Clarke's first game in charge of Scotland, things are a little different.

It would take a big collapse now for Scotland to miss out out on one of the top two spots after four wins from our opening four Group A fixtures, including eye-catching wins over Spain and away to Norway. No-one is naive enough to dismiss that as a possibility, but it seems unlikely. Clarke has come full circle in that it's Cyprus up next - the same opponents he faced in his Hampden bow back in 2019.

Scott McKenna The big centre back has never been an automatic choice for his country, but Clarke clearly likes having him around. A serious injury to Grant Hanley has improved his playing chances, which should see him add to his five caps. McGinn is his country's talisman. He made not be the most technically refined, but all action style, physicality and tremendous engine make him a nightmare for opposition midfields and defences. Thankfully has stayed consistently fit and playing at the top level with Aston Villa has seen him grow into a senior figure both domestically and internationally, donning the captain's armband at Villa Park.

Callum McGregor The Celtic captain flits seamlessly between club and country in midfield. The 30-year-old is one of our most experience and decorated options and shows no signs of slowing down. His influence on and off the pitch means he'll likely be an important part of the national set up going forward for some time to come.

A late double against Cyprus in the opening game at Hampden made things less nervy that they had been for 87 minutes. He then blew that out the water with a double against Spain days later that saw the road to Germany really open up. He was at it again against Georgia after a bit of a wait and seems to have followed John McGinn's rile in the scoring stakes.
