Morrison will leave his post after 14 months working under Clarke full-time
National coach Steve Clarke is set to add a fresh face to his backroom team after the departure of the former midfielder. Morrison joined the coaching staff on a full-time basis 14 months ago after assisting during Euro 2024 qualification wins over Norway and Georgia. The ex-West Brom star, capped 46 times for Scotland, was part of Clarke's staff who went to Germany for the showpiece Finals in the summer.
However, Morrison will not continue in the role for the upcoming Nations League campaign against Poland, Portugal and Croatia. Record Sport understands Clarke is on the hunt for a new man to work alongside himself and No.2 John Carver and join his coaching staff. Morrison described the opportunity to join his former Hawthorns boss at national-team level role as a “privilege” after he was chosen to replace Steven Naismith, who took the full-time manager's job at Hearts. But, having spent just over a year in the post, the 38-year-old is no longer in place as the country gets set for their opening qualifiers next month against the Poles at Hampden and the Portuguese in Lisbon.
