While Coogan lives in the quiet Sussex village of Barcombe, he has previously said he owns a second home in the Lake District. Coogan, 58, joined protesters in the high-profile row as he slammed the water firm of 'greenwashing' and 'PR spin' this morning on Good Morning BritainLake Windermere and Waterhead Bay in Ambleside in the Lake District National Park
Speaking to Good Morning Britain, Coogan called the situation a 'timebomb' and said: 'United Utilities have a big fancy PR machine and they put nice fancy offices up like this to say 'we're working together with the people of Windermere'. 'They've been doing this year on year. They're doing it legally and we have evidence they're legally putting sewage into the lake. They've been paying record dividends to shareholders, there's no excuse for this.
Steve Coogan and Paul Whitehouse joined up with members of Dum Nation during the Save Windermere campaign in Cumbria last year'Either they have to do this themselves or the government needs to act. It needs to be dealt with once and for all.' He added: 'It is all to stop people looking at the fundamental problem, which is they are the biggest polluters in this country, the biggest water utility company pollutes British waterways.
