Former Nottingham Forest defender Cook spoke to the Garibaldi Red podcast about his short, but ultimately incredible time at the City Ground
Steve Cook stood with the ball on the penalty spot as a two week long emotional whirlwind came to a head on May 17 last year.
"That game was ridiculous. It was so emotional as a player - tiring, draining. One minute the atmosphere was rocking, the next you can here a pin drop with disappointment," he told the latest Garibaldi Red podcast. "We were ready. They were scrambling on the sides and had no plan. It goes to show because we were brilliant. Apart from the one we missed it all went to plan and with Brice Samba in that form we destined to win that shootout.
"That game set the standard with the atmosphere and we never looked back. I loved it from that point," he said. "They have a big part to play this season too. The first few years as a Premier League team you are never safe. The atmosphere has to stay the same, if not get better for the team to grow." "In the interview the day after maybe I'd had a bit too much to drink and I didn't realise I was on the radio too! There was a bit of a hangover and I got a bit carried away but it was an unbelievable day.
